This was a product of Boulton Paul, Norwich. J. D North designed the plane and it was intended to be a replacement for the Sopwith Camel. However, Spwith's had a lot of spares that would go into their replacement, the Snipe. The Boulton Paul P6 went on to become an experimental plane and flew with many wing sections to establish which was the best aerofoil section. On the side of the aircraft it says Sales Department. John McWilliam was the Sales Director of the company and used the plane on his sales trips.
