The P25 Bugle first prototype serial J6984 flew from Mousehold Heath on 25th July 1923 with Bristol Jupiter radial engines. Boulton Paul's first true operational installation of a Bristol product designed by the great Sir  Roy Fedden. As with the earlier Bolton the Bugle made use of J.D. North's patented triangular top rear fuselage design to increase the dorsal gunner's fields of fire below.
